Full of nuance and depth, Toyin Ojih Odutola’s drawing depicts a woman in the foreground who is staring directly at the viewer. What’s most striking is the way Odutola portrays her luminous, radiant skin. There’s also a fluidity to the way the different patterns, from the leaf print on the wall to the woman’s elegant dress, play together. Using charcoal, pencil and pastel, Odutola’s drawing looks almost paint-like.
